Orthodontics

Crooked (or “crowded”) teeth are the most common complaint for patients attending Kai Dental, and can affect anyone, from children, teenagers and adults. When the front teeth are crooked, it can often be very noticeable and lead people to feeling self-conscious about their smile.

Causes and presentation of Crooked Teeth

Crowding occurs because of an imbalance between the size of your jaws and the size of the teeth. Usually, this is relatively small and can be corrected with straightforward orthodontic treatment. Occasionally this is more severe, and requires the use of advanced orthodontic techniques in order to correct. Crooked teeth can look tilted, rotated, or “wonky”.

What problems can Crooked teeth lead to?

They can cause other issues too – patients attending the clinic often report that the area of the mouth with the most crowding is difficult to clean properly – leading to increased risks of gingivitis and as the plaque builds up also leads to increased visits to the hygienist for a professional clean.

How do we fix Crooked Teeth?

As registered orthodontic specialists, at Kai Dental we are able to use a variety of techniques to resolve your crowding. The most popular option at Kai Dental is Invisalign – which uses a series of plastic aligners to gently move your teeth into the correct position. Fixed braces are also a popular option. For more technically challenging cases, we can employ more complex solutions such as bone screws, the Carriere device and extractions to ensure the ideal result
